For now, every Notre Dame football fan’s 2024 dream is forecasted to become reality. The Week 13 College Football Playoff rankings were released Tuesday night, and if the season ended today the Fighting Irish would be hosting a first-round game.

Notre Dame (9-1) is No. 6 in the latest CFP poll and the No. 8 overall seed in the playoff bracket, projected to host No. 9 overall seed Alabama (8-2) in South Bend in late December.

The Irish moved up in the rankings because BYU and Tennessee, the two teams directly in front of them in last week’s set of rankings, suffered Week 12 losses. Notre Dame won its eighth game in a row, meanwhile, in a 35-14 rout of Virginia.

Notre Dame has an opportunity to bolster its résumé this weekend with a game against undefeated Army at Yankee Stadium. The Black Knights are ranked No. 19 in the latest CFP poll, up five spots from last week, and could make a playoff push of their own if they knocked off the Irish.

The only other team ranked in the CFP Top 25 on the 2024 Notre Dame schedule is No. 15 Texas A&M (8-2). The Irish beat the Aggies, 23-13, in College Station in Week 1.

The loser of the No. 5 Indiana (10-0) at No. 2 Ohio State (9-1) game will almost assuredly fall behind the Irish, allowing more upward movement for head coach Marcus Freeman‘s team should Notre Dame win its next two games. The Irish finish the season at USC (5-5) at the end of the month.
