Newsstand: Notre Dame adds PWO Cole Aubrey from Princeton
Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman says all the time that he’s always looking to enhance the Fighting Irish football roster. Wednesday, a week after the winter transfer portal window closed, the Irish were still hard at work in doing just that.
Princeton outside linebacker Cole Aubrey announced he’s on his way to South Bend as a preferred walk-on with two years to play one, meaning he could be on the Irish roster through the 2024 season if he redshirts in 2023.
Aubrey was a three-star recruit out of Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco in the recruiting class of 2019. He had a Power Five offer from Boston College and other FBS offers including Air Force, Army and Navy. He ended up at Princeton because he was a hot commodity among Ive League schools. In three seasons there, Aubrey recorded 47 total tackles, 11 tackles for loss and 10 sacks. He left Bosco with the school’s single-season sacks record (17.5).

The Irish are short on pass-rushers after losing Isaiah Foskey and Justin Ademilola to the NFL Draft. The 6-2, 235-pound Aubrey could be a sneaky good get in providing depth in that area.
