Notre Dame junior Drew Pyne has the same passer rating as Alabama’s Bryce Young. Yep. You read that right. The Irish’s backup-turned-starter has had an eerily similar season to that of last year’s Heisman Trophy winner.

The two have a passer rating of 151.4, which is tied for 31st nationally. Pyne has completed 63.1% of his passes for 1,547 yards with 18 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. Young has completed 63.0% of his passes for 2,443 yards with 22 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. Young has averaged 8.0 yards per attempt. Pyne averages 7.6.

Obviously, Young is not having another Heisman-type season. But he has not been bad by any means, so it’s good company for Pyne to share in his first season as a starter. He’s coming off one of his finer performances with 5 total touchdowns vs. Navy, all of which came in the first half.

Quote of the day

“It was dope. I couldn’t have picked a better game to go to. Talking to all of the recruits was definitely fun. Building those relationships is always fun, no matter where you are. It’s good to get different perspectives. Obviously, the game was definitely a highlight. Rushing the field was awesome. You don’t get that experience all the time.”
