Is Notre Dame the leader for Carr?

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), the answer is yes. The Fighting Irish sit at 98.0 percent, which is about as much of a lock as you can get.

On3’s RPM was released to the public in early December. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college. It factors in machine learning, expert predictions, social sentiment, visits and historical trends.

While the RPM heavily favors Notre Dame, where Carr will actually choose obviously remains to be seen. Among his top six, we believe that Michigan, Notre Dame and Wisconsin are the final three he’ll be choosing from.

The Wolverines had long been considered the heavy favorite for Carr. Carr is the grandson of legendary Michigan head coach Lloyd Carr, who led the Wolverines from 1995-07 with a 122-40 record and won the 1997 national championship. Carr’s maternal grandfather is Tom Curtis, a former All-American and College Football Hall of Fame Michigan safety. Jason Carr, Lloyd’s son and CJ’s father, was a quarterback at Michigan in the 1990s. Carr’s mother, Tammi, also went to Michigan.

Carr enjoyed a recent visit to Michigan.

“It was really cool,” Carr told The Wolverine. “I really like what Coach Weiss is doing with the quarterbacks. I like how he’s coaching them, especially the freshmen. He’s helping them understand the offense. I also liked the overall atmosphere of the practice. It was high intensity and really fun to watch. It was a really great experience.”

Wisconsin has been a sneaky contender, as the Badgers have hosted Carr on campus previously and done a stellar job in his recruitment.

Notre Dame has the momentum going into the visit as the school that hosted him this past weekend.

“They’re really high on my list right now,” he told Blue & Gold after his April visit. “I’m looking at them hard. I really like Coach Rees and Coach Freeman. I’m excited to continue to grow that relationship and get back down to South Bend.”

Carr will end all speculation on Thursday evening when he announces his choice.

“The goal is just to find the best place for me, wherever that is and wherever that may be,” Carr said.
