Newsstand: Notre Dame football commit Peyton Bowen to play on ESPN2 Thursday
Notre Dame’s top recruiting commit in the class of 2023 is taking the national stage tonight. Five-star safety Peyton Bowen of Denton (Texas) Guyer High School has the chance to show the country the skillset that has him rated as the No. 2 safety and No. 18 overall player in his class per the On3 Consensus Recruiting Rankings when his Wildcats take on the Allen (Texas) Eagles at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
Allen is a five-time state champion. The perennial powerhouse produced the likes of quarterback Kyler Murray of the Arizona Cardinals and wide receiver Jalen Guyton, a former Fighting Irish signee, of the Los Angeles Chargers. Guyer, meanwhile, is currently ranked No. 1 in the Dallas area has an undefeated season in the works. Allen has lost once.

Bowen committed to the Irish on New Year’s Day. He’s still heavily sought after by Oklahoma and Texas A&M. He has taken unofficial visits to both schools this fall. His only official visit to Notre Dame came in June of this year. He had visited South Bend unofficially three times prior. His brother, class of 2024 cornerback Eli Bowen, also holds an offer from the Irish.
Bowen has 38 tackles, 2.0 for loss, 1 pass broken up, 1 interception returned for a touchdown and 2 punt return touchdowns in 2022.
