Notre Dame signees Jaylen Sneed, Aamil Wagner earn On3 five-star status
The On3 Consensus is a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four major recruiting media services. Created by the authors of the Composite, the On3 Consensus is the most advanced, complete and unbiased rating and ranking measurement in the industry.
It is the ranking that we use in articles at BlueandGold.com when we call a prospect a four-star and give his national and state ranking. But On3 has its own rankings, and the national team is putting the finishing touches on their 2022 rankings now that the postseason all-star games have wrapped up.
Two Notre Dame signees were elevated to five-star status per On3.
There are 32 On3 five-star prospects in the 2022 cycle, and checking in at No. 26 in the land is Hilton Head (S.C.) High’s Jaylen Sneed, who is also the No. 2 overall linebacker and top player from South Carolina. He moved up from being the No. 37 player and No. 3 linebacker according to On3.
On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power was very impressed by Sneed after seeing him in person at the Under Armour All-America week of practices and the game itself a few weeks ago.

“We’ve long known Sneed as a twitched-up, multi-dimensional athlete,” Power wrote. “He made the transition to more of an off-ball linebacker as a senior and took to it quickly. The South Carolina native plays with his hair on fire and was the most active linebacker in the Under Armour game. He flew around and played with effort and physicality.”
Sneed, who enrolled at Notre Dame earlier this month and picked the Irish over Texas A&M, Texas, Alabama, Oklahoma, Oregon and many others, is not a surprise five-star selection.
Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne class of 2022 offensive tackle Aamil Wagner jumped all the way up from being the No. 89 player to No. 29 in the country. He’s now the No. 3 offensive tackle in the land, moving up from No. 7.

The newly minted On3 five-star prospect was limited to a couple days during the All-American Bowl practices earlier this month, but he dominated in one-on-ones and had a strong showing in the game.
“Of the lighter, developmental offensive tackles in both [all-star] games, we thought Notre Dame signee Aamil Wagner had the best play strength,” Power wrote. “Many of the offensive linemen at the All-American Bowl were well over 330 pounds, so Wagner’s lack of mass stood out in the group. He looks to be in the 250-260 pound range. With that said, Wagner played stronger than many of the 300-plus pounders.
“We saw him take Texas A&M signee Enai White to the ground in one-on-ones on the first day. That strong base and pop in his hands continued throughout the week. It probably shouldn’t come as a surprise that Wagner is so strong, given he has a 60-foot shot put toss to his name. He pairs that strength with some of the better movement skills and athleticism among tackles in the cycle. Wagner worked with the second team throughout the week and played both right and left tackle on two of his team’s best drives in the game.”
On3 released its five-star prospects on Monday morning and will release the full On300 early in the afternoon. BlueandGold.com will have an in-depth report on the notable movers among the Notre Dame commits.
