Four-star safety Adon Shuler put on recruiting hat during latest Notre Dame visit
Irvington (N.J.) High class of 2023 safety and Notre Dame commit Adon Shuler was at Notre Dame last weekend with his family. While Shuler had plenty of fun on his visit, it was also a business trip.
There were many top Notre Dame targets on campus, and Shuler had his recruiting hat on.
“It was awesome,” Shuler said. “I got to see a lot of guys who are on the board and guys we have a great shot of getting in our class.”
Off the top of his head, Shuler mentioned that he was recruiting four-star wide receivers Rodney Gallagher and Jaden Greathouse, and he and fellow Irish safety commit Peyton Bowen were in the ear of five-star safety Caleb Downs about joining them in South Bend.
“It was good,” Shuler said of his time talking with Downs. “He’s still enjoying the recruiting process and narrowing down where he wants to go.”
All is well with Shuler’s Notre Dame pledge
Since committing to Notre Dame last summer, Shuler has racked up offers from other college coaches, including Alabama, Mississippi State, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Texas A&M and Florida State. But Shuler affirmed that he’s going strong with his Irish commitment.
“Everybody does their due diligence in recruiting, but I’m really locked in,” he said.
And his latest visit to South Bend was a productive one.
“It gets better each time,” Shuler said about visiting Notre Dame. “The more I talk to the staff and am around them, the more I feel that I’ve known them for a really long time, but it hasn’t been that long. It feels that way though.
“I got to take pictures with the other commits and sat in the golden throne. That was amazing. The spring game was awesome and got to meet former defensive backs who played at Notre Dame, which was really cool. I saw them play on TV and now get to interact with them.”

A couple weekends before the Blue-Gold Game visit, Shuler was in South Bend for a visit with his high school teammates.
“I got to see practice and how things are run,” Shuler added. “I saw how they coach, and it was awesome.”
Shuler, who plans to enroll early at Notre Dame, ranks as the nation’s No. 215 overall player and No. 19 safety according to the 2023 On3 Consensus rankings. He’s also the No. 2 recruit from his home state of New Jersey.
On3’s own rankings list Shuler as the No. 288 prospect and No. 24 safety, plus the No. 3 player from New Jersey.
