Lake Stevens (Wash.) High class of 2023 running back Jayden Limar last visited Notre Dame a little less than two months ago, and the circumstances for that trip were different than the one he took this past weekend.

The four-star back was at Notre Dame for the Blue-Gold Game April 23 as an uncommitted prospect. He had already given the staff indication that he would be committing, but there’s a big difference between a private commitment and a public one.

Limar made the plunge and committed to the Fighting Irish May 26 and made it back to South Bend this past weekend for his official visit. There was no making sure Notre Dame is the best place for him on his mind. He’s past that. This weekend was all about having fun and building relationships.

“It was great being there with the other commits,” Limar said. “When you’re on a visit and uncommitted, people are trying to get you to commit. We were all just happy to be with each other. Us commits vibed really well together. It was a good time.”

“I met Braylon [James] for the first time and got to know him more. I talked to CJ [Carr] a little bit; he’s a cool kid and will be really good. I had already met Peyton [Bowen], Keon [Keeley] and some of the others.”

There were all sorts of fun activities happening during the weekend, but when asked what his favorite part of the weekend was, Limar doubled down on building relationships.

“Just being around my future teammates so much — we clicked really well,” he said. “We all get along really well, and it was cool to see that.”

Limar spent plenty of time with head coach Marcus Freeman, offensive coordinator Tommy Rees, director of recruiting Chad Bowden and of course, running backs coach Deland McCullough.

“Man, they’re great,” Limar said of the staff. “We have a few guys (enrolling) early, and we were talking about how that’s around the corner and what we need to do until then. It’s been great. They’re really happy for all of us and proud we made our decision so early.”

Photoshoots are a normal part of a campus visit, but Notre Dame has turned it up a notch with their videoshoots. Limar promises that when they’re posted on social media this week, the nation will take notice.

“I don’t think there’s another school doing media and video shoots like Notre Dame does,” he said. “Y’all will see it soon.”

Limar is locked in with his Fighting Irish pledge.

“I’m training and trying to put on a few more pounds,” he said. “That’s it. I’m not visiting anywhere else. I’ll be back up here for some games next season.”

Limar ranks as the nation’s No. 273 overall recruit and No. 15 running back according to the 2023 On3 Consensus.
