How often has Notre Dame landed six top-100 recruits in a class? A look back at recent history
Notre Dame surged back into the top spot in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking by landing four commits in a five-day span. Two of them were ranked in the top 100 of the On3 Consensus.
Those top-100 recruits are the fuel behind one of Notre Dame’s best classes since 2004, the first year with retroactively applied On3 Consensus rankings. Rock Island (Ill.) Alleman offensive tackle Charles Jagusah and St. Louis De Smet cornerback Christian Gray became the fifth and sixth top-100 prospects in the class when they committed June 30 and July 4, respectively. Jagusah – the No. 41 overall player in the consensus – is the Irish’s second-highest ranked commit. Gray (No. 78) is fifth.
Jagusah and Gray join Tampa Berkeley Prep defensive end Keon Keeley (No. 11 overall), Denton (Texas) Guyer safety Peyton Bowen (No. 55), Merrillville (Ind.) Andrean linebacker Drayk Bowen (No. 78) and Mentor (Ohio) High defensive end Brenan Vernon (No. 80) as top-100 Notre Dame commits. All are four-star prospects except Keeley, who is a five-star.

Notre Dame still has some top-100 targets left on the board, including four who took official visits in June: Hoschton (Ga.) Mill Creek five-star safety Caleb Downs (No. 13), Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha Catholic four-star defensive lineman Jason Moore (No. 46), St. Louis Christian Brothers four-star running back Jeremiyah Love (No. 67) and Baton Rouge (La.) University Lab four-star linebacker Jaiden Ausberry (No. 82).

Additionally, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy four-star EDGE Sam M’Pemba (No. 27) stated he plans to officially visit Notre Dame in the fall.
Even if the class stays at six top-100 recruits, though, that will be tied with four others for the second-most in a Notre Dame recruiting class in the On3 Consensus era and the most since 2011. From 2004-22, Notre Dame signed 71 top-100 recruits – an average of 3.6 per class.
Here’s a look at the six previous Notre Dame signing classes with at least five top-100 recruits and a breakdown of top-100 signees since 2004.
