Notre Dame releases depth chart for North Carolina game

Notre Dame has released its depth chart for its Saturday game against North Carolina (3:30 p.m. ET, ABC). Here’s a position-by-position rundown of the starters and backups listed. Changes from the prior week are noted as such.

Quarterback

Starter: Drew Pyne (Jr.)

No. 2: Steve Angeli (Fr.)

Pyne made his first career start in the 24-17 win over Cal and is QB1 after Tyler Buchner’s season-ending shoulder injury.

Running back

Starter(s): Chris Tyree (Jr.),  Audric Estime (So.), Logan Diggs (So.)

The three running backs had an “or” next to their names the first three weeks. Diggs (illness) did not play against Cal.

Wide receiver

Starter: Jayden Thomas (So.)

No. 2: Matt Salerno (Gr.)

Wide receiver

Starter: Lorenzo Styles (So.)

No. 2: Deion Colzie (So.)

Will linebacker

Starter: Marist Liufau (Sr.)

Bertrand will miss the first half of the North Carolina game due to a targeting ejection in the fourth quarter vs. Cal.

Left safety

Starter(s): Houston Griffith (Gr.) or DJ Brown (Gr.)

Brown earned the start vs. Cal and played 50 snaps, while Griffith played just 19. That was the biggest disparity between the two so far this season.

Right safety

Starter(s): Brandon Joseph (Sr.) or Ramon Henderson (Jr.)

Joseph played 54 snaps to Henderson’s 26 against Cal.

Cornerback

Starter(s): Cam Hart (Sr.) or TaRiq Bracy (Gr.)

No. 2: Jaden Mickey (Fr.)

Hart and Bracy both started vs. Cal because Notre Dame began the game in nickel. Bracy played a team-high 63 snaps, and Hart logged 55.

Cornerback

Starter(s): Clarence Lewis (Jr.) or Cam Hart (Sr.)

No. 2: Benjamin Morrison (Fr.)

This is the same listing as the last three weeks, but Morrison started vs. Cal. Lewis, though, played 38 snaps to Morrison’s 26.

Long Snapper: Michael Vinson (Gr.)

Kickoff specialist: Zac Yoakam (Fr.)

• Freshman Bryce McFerson won the kickoff job early in camp, but remains out due to a groin injury and has not played this year.

Kick returner: Tyree

Punt returner: Joseph or Salerno

• Joseph has been the lone punt returner in every game this season.
