Notre Dame football spring 2025 transfer portal tracker: Who's leaving the Irish?

It’s transfer portal season. With Notre Dame concluding spring practices concurrently with the opening of the spring portal window, there are bound to be some Fighting Irish players who decide it’s in their best interest to seek situations more suitable for a prosperous future at other universities.
Sure enough, Notre Dame had two players enter the portal before noon eastern on April 16.
Below is a running list of every transfer portal entry — and addition, if applicable — for the Fighting Irish during the spring 2025 window, which closes on April 25.
Notre Dame football spring 2025 transfer portal updates
Additions to the tracker will be made in reverse chronological order.
• April 17, 1:28 p.m. ET: Senior quarterback Steve Angeli enters transfer portal
Notes: Shocking to some, perhaps expected to others, the Notre Dame quarterback that ends up seeking a more prosperous situation somewhere else ends up being Angeli, the eldest statesman in the room. Angeli’s entire career, spent as a backup every year he was in South Bend, had been building toward this season. Now he’s got to see if he can find another school to start at.
• April 17, 11:12 a.m. ET: Walk-on kicker Zac Yoakam enters transfer portal
Notes: Yoakam was Notre Dame’s primary kickoff man in 2022. He recorded 50 touchbacks on 78 attempts. He attempted five field goals during the 2024 season when Mitch Jeter was hurt. He made two of those. He also made all 18 of his extra points in relief of Jeter.

• April 16, 10:36 a.m. ET: Longsnapper Rino Monteforte enters transfer portal
Notes: Monteforte recorded 100 reps of long snapping on Notre Dame’s field goal unit in 2024. He waited for Michael Vinson to graduate then slid into the role vacated by his elder statesmen for a year. Standing at just 5-7 and weighing 209 pounds, he was the subject of much fan scrutiny when the Irish were having midseason issues with getting field goals blocked. Still, the coaching staff stood by him and he served the team well in what he was asked to do. A true feel-good walk-on story, and forever a Fighting Irish fan favorite for his love of the university.
• April 16, 10:14 a.m. ET: Sophomore safety Kennedy Urlacher to enter portal
Notes: Urlacher played in 14 of Notre Dame’s 16 games last season. He was definitely viewed as a prominent player in the program’s future, but for the time being he wasn’t much more than a special teams staple. He only appeared in six games on defense and played 65 snaps across those appearances. At some other institution, he can probably play safety right now in the two deep. At Notre Dame, he was being drowned out on the defensive depth chart.
