Notre Dame’s performance on the field this past Saturday was worthy of a 44-21 win over UNLV. This performances in the press conference setting were even better.

Here are three can’t-miss quotes after the Irish victory.

Head coach Marcus Freeman on winning in South Bend:

“This place is special. Notre Dame Stadium and the history and tradition of this place is something we all respect. We haven’t had the greatest of showings in our home games. You can name a list of reasons why. I don’t know. But we needed to make sure our players understood the importance of performing well at home. This is an advantage for us. It has to be an advantage for us. That’s why I made that comment about it was great to get a good win in Notre Dame Stadium.”

Junior tight end Michael Mayer on his one-handed catch:

“I don’t think I saw the ball to be honest. I kind of stuck out my hand and hoped for the best. That’s a route me and Drew [Pyne] practiced a lot, we’ve repped a lot in practice. Those type of throws, it’s just one of those things where it’s kind of just like, all right, it’s me against the linebacker. Drew knows there’s a pretty good chance, if he kind of throws that thing up, I’m going to catch it. He believed in me and he threw it up there, and I found a way to catch it. It was a cool play.”

Sophomore running back Logan Diggs on a pregame talk with Kyren Williams:

“He just was telling me about the league and what’s different and things like that. But mostly, you know, he just told me good luck. He said, ‘You play football, you’re a football player. Go out there and do what you do. Do your job.’ That gave me all the confidence I need just to go out there and just do what I’ve been doing my whole life.”
