Live updates: UNLV vs. Notre Dame football
Halfway through the 2022 season, Notre Dame sits with a .500 record of 3-3. The Fighting Irish can push that mark to 4-3 with a win over 26.5-point underdog UNLV. The game kicks off at 2:30 p.m. ET, streaming exclusively on Peacock.

UNLV vs. Notre Dame live updates: First quarter
• UNLV wins the toss and defers to second half.
• Notre Dame strikes first on a 12-yard touchdown run. Quarterback Drew Pyne hits tight end Michael Mayer for a gain of 23 on an RPO and a wide-open Jayden Thomas over the middle for a gain of 37 on the drive.
SCORE: Irish 7, Rebels 0 with 12:35 left in the first quarter
• The Irish force a three and out on UNLV’s first possession.
• Notre Dame starts its second possession on the UNLV 43 because of a penalty on the Rebels on the punt. The Irish pick up one first down on a throw from Pyne to Braden Lenzy, but they settle for a 43-yard field goal. Blake Grupe makes it.
SCORE: Irish 10, Rebels 0 with 10:06 left in the first quarter
• The Rebels race right back with a 74-yard run to the Notre Dame 2. JD Bertrand makes a touchdown-saving tackle, but UNLV punches it into the end zone two plays later on a speed option to the left. The tailback easily scores after taking the pitch and turning the corner.
SCORE: Irish 10, Rebels 7 with 9:10 left in the first quarter
• Lorenzo Styles drops a would-be first down on a nice pass from Pyne, and the Irish punt.
• Isaiah Foskey blocks a punt for the Irish to set up the Notre Dame offense on the UNLV 20. Pyne hits Mayer for a 20-yard score on second down.
SCORE: Irish 17, Rebels 7 with 6:24 left in the first quarter
• The Irish block another punt. Foskey is in on the play again. Mayer appears tov have caught his second touchdown of the game, but it’s called incomplete on a review. Notre Dame settles for another field goal. Grupe makes from 27 yards out.
SCORE: Irish 20, Rebels 7 with 3:58 left in the first quarter
• Notre Dame linebacker Prince Kollie walks to the locker room. He was injured on the Irish’s second punt block of the day.
• Kollie returns to the sideline.
• Notre Dame starts 1 for 5 on third down. The latest unsuccessful attempt is a forced pass from Pyne to Mayer. It falls incomplete. The Irish settle for a 46-yard field goal. Grupe connects.
SCORE: Irish 23, Rebels 7 at the end of the quarter
Second quarter
• Kollie returns to the field for the Notre Dame punt return unit.
• Notre Dame running back Audric Estime loses a fumble for the third time in four games.
• UNLV appears to have its second first down of the game, but it’s called back for offensive pass interference. The Rebels instead go three and out for the sixth time in their first seven possessions.
• Mayer has catches of 27 and 34 yards to get the Irish into the red zone. The 34-yard snag was a highlight reel reception.
• Pyne looks for freshman wideout Tobias Merriweather in the back of the end zone on third and three. He looks for Mayer in the end zone on fourth and three. He cannot connect on either attempt. The Irish turn the ball over on downs.
• UNLV goes three and out for the seventh time in its first eight possessions.
• Pyne gets Notre Dame to the goal line on a 21-yard scramble. He’s knocked out of the game for at least a play. Freshman quarterback Steve Angeli makes his Notre Dame debut on a tight end sneak for a touchdown from sophomore Mitchell Evans.

SCORE: Irish 30, Rebels 7 with 4:10 left in the first half.
• Irish corner strips a UNLV wide receiver to force a fumble. Lewis recovers.
• Pyne comes back into the game for the Irish.
• Pyne overshoots Chris Tyree on what would have been an easy touchdown, and he’s intercepted on a tipped pass on the very next play.
HALFTIME SCORE: Irish 30, Rebels 7
Third quarter
• Foskey notches his third sack of the day on fourth and 6 from midfield. The Irish will get the ball at the UNLV 42.
• A Notre Dame touchdown was taken off the board for a second time in the game when a 27-yard run by Diggs was called back for a gain of three. His knee was down. The Irish settle for a 42-yard field goal try. Grupe hits the upright. The kick is no good. It’s still 30-7 Irish with 11:49 left in the third quarter.
• A 47-yard run puts UNLV in business. QB Harrison Bailey moves the chains on a crucial fourth and short. Then he scores on two-yard rushing touchdown.
SCORE: Irish 30, Rebels 14 with 8:06 left in the third quarter.
• The Irish can’t convert on third and 5. The Rebels get the ball back with 5:39 left in the third quarter, only trailing by two touchdowns and two two-point conversions.
• UNLV goes three and out.
• Notre Dame finishes the frame milking the clock with a run-heavy offensive look. The Irish have first and 10 at the UNLV 29, still leading 30-14.
Fourth quarter
• Notre Dame stays run heavy, and Tyree scores from eight yards out.
• UNLV drives down to an in-goal situation. Irish linebacker JD Bertrand is called for targeting for the third time in the last five games. The call is reversed. No targeting.
• UNLV scores on Bailey’s second rushing touchdown of the game. The play is under review. The call is overturned. Bailey is down at the half yard line.
• The Rebels get in the end zone on a run up the middle on fourth and goal.
SCORE: Irish 37, Rebels 21 with 8:02 left in the game.
• UNLV is unsuccessful on an onside kick attempt.
• Lenzy scores on a four-yard run.
SCORE: Irish 44, Rebels 21
