Notre Dame football moves up in Week 2 Associated Press Poll after beating Texas A&M
By many people’s standards, Notre Dame had the best college football Week 1 win by going to No. 20 Texas A&M and beating the Aggies, 23-13. Associated Press pollsters rewarded the Irish with a move up in the Week 2 rankings.
Notre Dame has gone from No. 7 to No. 5.
The Aggies fell out of the rankings after coming close to knocking off the Irish, but they’re the first team receiving votes. They could easily get back into the rankings and end up being a really quality win for head coach Marcus Freeman and Co., especially considering the game took place in front of 107,315 in College Station — the fourth-largest crowd in Kyle Field history.
There are three other 2024 Notre Dame opponents present in the poll; No. 13 USC, No. 22 Louisville No. 23 Georgia Tech. The Trojans beat then-No. 13 LSU on Sunday night. The Cardinals started their season off with a win as well, taking down Austin Peay 62-0. The Yellow Jackets are 2-0 after wins over Florida State in week 0 and Georgia State in Week 1.
Notre Dame does not leave the state of Indiana until taking on Georgia Tech in Atlanta on Oct. 19. The Irish have games against Northern Illinois, Purdue, Miami (Ohio), Louisville and Stanford between now and then. All of those games will be played at the House That Rockne Built in South Bend outside of the trip two or so hours south to see the Boilermakers.

Notre Dame’s schedule has taken the biggest hit out of what has occurred with the Florida State Seminoles in their first two games of the season. The preseason No. 10 team in the country is 0-2 with losses to Georgia Tech and Boston College.
In addition to that Nov. 9 matchup in South Bend and the aforementioned games on the Irish’s slate, Notre Dame also plays Navy, Virginia and Army. The Cavaliers come to South Bend while the Irish will play the service academies at neutral sites in the New York City area.
Here’s a look at the full poll.
