Run down the seam on former Notre Dame safety Kyle Hamilton‘s side of the field at your own risk. Buccaneers tight end Cade Otton found out the hard way.

Hamilton blasted Otton during the fourth quarter of the Ravens’ 41-31 win on Monday Night Football with a vicious — but clean; he hit him shoulder-to-shoulder — hit.

That play was one of 4 incompletions thrown in Hamilton’s direction, as he was targeted 8 times and allowed 4 receptions for just 21 yards. That’s 2.6 yards per attempt, along with a pass breakup, making it an elite coverage performance.

The 2022 first-round draft pick out of Notre Dame also made 11 tackles, including 2 defensive stops (tackles that result in a failure for the offense). His season total is up to 47, including 32 solo tackles, through 7 games. That puts him on pace for a career high, and while he did not tally a quarterback pressure this week, he has 8 in 30 pass-rush reps this season.

Hamilton has built a reputation for massive hits like that one. At 6-foot-4, 220 pounds and bringing extreme versatility — he lines up in the box, in the slot and in center field at least 10 times per game each — Hamilton also has a reputation as perhaps the top back-end defensive weapon in the game today.

Here’s how every other former Notre Dame football player in the NFL did in Week 7.
