Notre Dame in the NFL: Kyle Hamilton changes game for Ravens at free safety
Around Week 10, the Baltimore Ravens moved former Notre Dame safety Kyle Hamilton from a versatile box/slot role to a full-time free safety.
Not so coincidentally, that’s also around the time they became the best pass defense in the NFL.
By all accounts in Baltimore, Hamilton’s impact can’t be overstated. And the 2022 first-round pick out of Notre Dame played arguably his best game of the season in Week 16 against the Steelers, a 34-17 Ravens win.
Hamilton made 8 tackles, three of which were defensive stops (tackles that result in a failure for the offense). He broke up a pass, and he forced a fumble. In coverage, Hamilton allowed 2 receptions on 4 targets for just 7 yards. Hamilton was everywhere as the Ravens’ defense terrorized the Steelers all game.
According to Pro Football Focus, Hamilton earned an elite 90.0 defense grade, which included an 82.2 mark in tackling and an 85.8 mark in coverage. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound safety is one of the NFL’s best defensive players, regardless of position, and he’s well on his way to his second-straight first-team All-Pro nod.
Here’s how every other former Notre Dame player in the NFL did this week.
