Notre Dame in the NFL: Kyren Williams scores 3 touchdowns in Rams comeback win

Former Notre Dame running back Kyren Williams believed he could fly.

In his third season with the Los Angeles Rams, Williams had scored 2 touchdowns in his first two games. In his third, he trailed 14-0 to the San Francisco 49ers when he decided to take matters into his own hands.

One front-flip over 49ers safety Talanoa Hufanga later, it was 14-7.

San Francisco would build the lead back to 21-7, but Williams scored twice more, including a 4-yard touchdown that tied the game at 24. Los Angeles would later win on a 27-yard field goal with 2 seconds left on the clock.

Williams finished with 114 total yards and 3 touchdowns. Here’s how every other former Notre Dame football player in the NFL did in Week 3.

JD Bertrand (2019-23), LB, Atlanta Falcons

Result: 22-17 loss to Chiefs

Bertrand played a snap on defense, in addition to his typical special teams workload (21 snaps).

Scott Daly (2012-16), LS, Chicago Bears

Result: 21-16 loss to Colts

Daly snapped 7 times successfully, 4 on punts and 3 on field goals.

Liam Eichenberg (2016-20), OL, Miami Dolphins

Result: 24-3 loss to Seahawks

Eichenberg allowed a quarterback hit but ultimately finished with a 50.6 PFF offense grade.

Jalen Elliott (2016-19), S, Pittsburgh Steelers

Result: 20-10 win over Chargers

Elliott played 17 snaps on special teams.

Cole Kmet (2017-19), TE, Chicago Bears

Result: 21-16 loss to Colts

Kmet finally broke through after a slow start to the 2024 season, catching 10 passes for 97 yards and a touchdown. He’s caught 15 of his 17 targets so far this season, indicating the Bears need to target the Notre Dame product more.
