Notre Dame at the Senior Bowl, Day 2: Isaiah Foskey discusses influences, Jarrett Patterson meets a former opponent
Senior Bowl practice continued Wednesday afternoon in Mobile, Ala. for former Notre Dame defensive end Isaiah Foskey and offensive lineman Jarrett Patterson. They completed the second of three sessions with the National Team before playing in the actual Senior Bowl Saturday (2:30 p.m. ET, NFL Network). All prospects can also meet with representatives from NFL teams in Mobile.
Foskey is considered one of the top prospects at the Senior Bowl and is a projected second-round pick. He left Notre Dame after setting a school record with 26 career sacks. Asked about his development into a high-end pass rusher Wednesday, Foskey was quick to credit several former Irish defensive ends.
“All the people from freshman year – Daelin Hayes, Julian Okwara, Jamir Jones, Ade [Ogundeji], those are the guys who molded me into who I am now,” Foskey said Wednesday. “I picked their brains since freshman year, sophomore year, always working out with them after practice, before practice, during the offseason.”
Most projections peg Patterson as a Day 3 selection. He started 46 games in his Irish career, 34 at center and 12 at left guard. He is working at both spots in practices this week.
Foskey, Patterson, tight end Michael Mayer and safety Brandon Joseph were invited to the NFL Combine, which takes place Feb. 26 through March 6 in Indianapolis. Mayer, as a junior draft entrant, could not participate in the Senior Bowl. It’s not clear if Joseph, an academic senior who transferred to Notre Dame as an undergrad in January 2022, was eligible to be invited.
Notre Dame draft prospects participated in two other postseason all-star games in January. Defensive tackle Jayson Ademilola played in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl Feb. 28 in Pasadena, Calif. Offensive lineman Josh Lugg played in the Hula Bowl Jan. 15 in Orlando, Fla. Both exhausted their college eligibility in 2022.
