Isaiah Foskey and Jarrett Patterson began the first major step of a months-long job interview this week. The two former Notre Dame stars and team captains are in Mobile, Ala. for the Senior Bowl, where they can meet with all 32 teams and will practice for three days before playing for the National Team in the game Saturday (2:30 p.m. ET, NFL Network). It’s their first chance to interact and talk with NFL personnel as well.

Foskey, the Irish’s all-time sacks leader, is a projected second-round pick heading into the event. Patterson, a 46-game starter on the Notre Dame offensive line at guard and center, is pegged as a Day 3 selection. The former entered the week as one of the most intriguing prospects participating in the Senior Bowl in draft analysts’ eyes.

“If I had to put odds on it, the top contenders to leave this week as the obvious No. 1 prospect are Oregon State tight end Luke Musgrave, Florida guard O’Cyrus Torrence and Notre Dame pass rusher Isaiah Foskey,” The Athletic draft analyst Dane Brugler wrote.

“Foskey isn’t considered a lock top-40 draft pick, because his rush arsenal lacks variety and he must become more consistent against the run. He plays with outstanding speed and his motor is always revving in high gear, though, which should lead to positive reps during Senior Bowl practices. Foskey has a high floor in the NFL and that has value.”
