Newsstand: Joe Alt, Michael Mayer named PFF All-Americans
Notre Dame sophomore left tackle Joe Alt and junior tight end Michael Mayer appeared on their first postseason All-American teams Tuesday. And almost certainly not their last.
Pro Football Focus named both first-team All-Americans Tuesday. They were the only two Irish players to appear on PFF’s first, second or third team.
Alt holds the highest PFF overall offensive grade (91.7) of any FBS tackle, as he has for much of the season. His 90.8 run blocking mark is also first in the FBS, and his 85.6 pass blocking grade is eighth. Alt has allowed zero sacks and just 5 pressures in 12 starts.
