Notre Dame keeping tabs on rising 2027 QB Jack Spaeder
When it came to the quarterback position at Notre Dame’s Irish Invasion camp earlier this month, all eyes were on Marcus Freeman‘s two signal-caller commits. Notre Dame had its class of 2025 and 2026 quarterbacks participating in the camp in Deuce Knight and Noah Grubbs, respectively.
But there were a handful of intriguing class of 2027 quarterbacks who impressed that day, and it’s Blue & Gold’s understanding that the Notre Dame staff really liked Coconut Creek (Fla.) Monarch’s Jack Spaeder.
The 6-3, 185-pounder isn’t a household name just yet, only holding offers from Georgia State and Akron. But after a strong performance at Notre Dame’s camp, the Irish staff is well aware of his talents and will keep track of him moving forward.
“I thought it was a great camp, if not the best I went to,” Spaeder told Blue & Gold. “I loved pretty much everything about Notre Dame.
The quarterback group had the most players than any other position, but the signal-callers were still able to get a lot of feedback from the Notre Dame staffers there. Position coach Gino Guidugli and graduate assistant Kurt Rawlings provided instruction, and Irish quarterbacks Steve Angeli, CJ Carr and Riley Leonard worked with the players as well.

“I thought the drills were great and different from other camps, and I got a lot of good feedback from the coaches,” said Spaeder. “Coach Gino was great to work with, and I enjoyed seeing the campus with Coach Rawlings. It was awesome to experience the history.
“It was also great to be selected with two of the other quarterbacks to meet Coach Freeman; there were a lot of good 27s there.”
These class of 2027 quarterbacks are only going into their sophomore years of high school, so it’s still very early in their respective recruiting processes. However, the recruiting calendar is sped up at the quarterback position, and Guidugli has told the signal-callers who he’s interested in that it’s going to take some time before he offers some of them, but it won’t take too long.
“I believe I’m in the mix,” Spaeder said regarding an offer. “Coach Gino is waiting for sophomore film, and I’m confident we’re going to have a good season. So I’m looking forward to the possibilities. I’d be pretty happy to get one for sure … I’d love to play for them and be a part of that tradition and history.”
Spaeder is hoping to return to South Bend this fall for a game day visit.
