Kyle Hamilton is spending his first full NFL offseason back at Notre Dame taking classes. The 2019-21 Irish safety and current Baltimore Raven can’t stay away from his old teammates and coaches either.

Hamilton has been a frequent guest at Notre Dame spring practices and in meetings with the safeties. He’s more than just an observer.

“He contributes,” safeties coach Chris O’Leary said. “We took a couple things from watching the Ravens film. We have a couple tidbits there. He’s in probably two meetings a week with us. He’ll chime in watching the film and then he’ll be out here in practice giving pointers. I always make the young guys go with him on the sideline and get some extra pointers.”

Hamilton came back to Notre Dame for the spring 2023 semester to continue working toward his degree, which he paused when he declared for the 2022 NFL Draft after his junior year. The Ravens took him with the No. 14 pick last spring. He played 16 games as a rookie, finishing with 46 tackles, 2 sacks, 5 pass breakups and 1 forced fumble. He was Pro Football Focus’ highest-graded NFL safety as a rookie.

The Ravens considered reuniting Hamilton and O’Leary in the NFL. They expressed interest in O’Leary for their open defensive backs coach job earlier this spring before eventually hiring 12-year NFL coaching veteran Dennard Wilson for the job.

Hamilton originally enrolled at Notre Dame in June 2019.
