Notre Dame men’s basketball announced jersey numbers for each of its seven newcomers Thursday evening, as well as one number change for the 2024-25 season.

The switch-up: Junior forward Tae Davis will wear No. 7. It will be his third jersey number in as many college seasons; the 6-foot-9, two-way wing was No. 13 with the Irish last season and No. 22 with Seton Hall as a freshman.

Davis returns for a second season with Notre Dame as head coach Micah Shrewsberry’s most valuable defender. Shrewsberry has said that he often sets his defense by putting Davis on the opponent’s best player and figuring out the rest from there.

Davis also made strides as a scorer throughout his sophomore season, finishing with 9.2 points per game but averaging 12.7 throughout his final nine outings.

Notre Dame’s freshman class — guards Cole Certa and Sir Mohammed, as well as forward Garrett Sundra — all received their jersey numbers as they go through their first month on campus. Mohammed will wear No. 4, Certa will wear No. 5 and Sundra will wear No. 12.

Sundra wore No. 12 in high school at Chantilly (Va.) Paul VI Catholic. Certa wore No. 3 at Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy, but that number belongs to sophomore guard Markus Burton. The three-point specialist did wear No. 5 at his previous school, Bloomington (Ill.) Central Catholic.

Mohammed wore No. 14 at Charlotte (N.C.) Myers Park, but junior forward Kebba Njie owns that number at Notre Dame.

Graduate student guard Matt Allocco also wore No. 14 at his previous school, so the Princeton transfer reversed it with the Irish. He will wear No. 41 at Notre Dame. Fellow graduate transfer additions Burke Chebuhar (Lehigh) and Nikita Konstantynovskyi (Monmouth) took Nos. 21 and 25, respectively.

Additionally, preferred walk-on freshman guard Brady Stevens will wear No. 0 at Notre Dame. Stevens is the son of Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens, who just won his first NBA championship. Shrewsberry coached under Stevens, both with the Celtics from 2013-19 and with Butler from 2007-11.
