Newsstand: Notre Dame OT Joe Alt named a top-10 returning player in college football
Another list of the top returning players in college football is out. And Notre Dame offensive tackle Joe Alt is on it.
Alt, the Irish’s rising junior left tackle, is the No. 9 player in On3’s top 10 returners for 2023. He’s coming off a sophomore season in which he earned a spot on all five NCAA-recognized All-American teams. He allowed 0 sacks and just 8 pressures in 13 starts, helping him earn the highest Pro Football Focus overall grade of any tackle in 2022. He put himself on track to be a first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
“Another absolute stalwart on the offensive line, Alt has now started 21 consecutive games for the Fighting Irish,” On3’s Alt capsule reads. “He was named a first-team AP All-American and Notre Dame’s run game was terrific, averaging 4.6 yards per carry. Alt was the leader of the group up front and helped Notre Dame rush for 220 or more yards in seven games last season.”
