Notre Dame junior running back Jeremiyah Love and sophomore cornerback Leonard Moore received the first of many major preseason honors on Tuesday. Both Fighting Irish stars were named Walter Camp first-team preseason All-Americans.

Walter Camp is the first of the five outlets that determine consensus and unanimous All-American status to announce its preseason list. The others are the Associated Press, Sporting News, American Football Coaches Association and Football Writers Association of America. A player must be recognized as a first-team All-American by three of the five outlets for consensus status and all five for unanimous status.

Love and Moore will very likely be consensus, if not unanimous, preseason All-Americans this season.

Five Notre Dame opponents made the Walter Camp preseason All-America first team, too: Miami right tackle Francis Mauigoa, Boise State left tackle Kage Casey, Texas A&M linebacker Taurean York, Pittsburgh linebacker Kyle Louis and Miami kickoff returner Keelan Marion.

Both Love and Moore broke out in 2024 as a sophomore and a freshman, respectively. Love rushed 163 times for 1,125 yards and 17 touchdowns, adding 28 receptions for 237 yards and 2 touchdowns as a pass-catcher.

While a lingering knee injury hampered him in the College Football Playoff, he still delivered two of the most memorable runs in recent Notre Dame history: a 98-yard scamper to open the scoring in the first round against Indiana and a 2-yard run that included 4 broken tackles in the Orange Bowl against Penn State.

Moore entered the starting lineup midseason and immediately proved he belonged, and then some. He allowed completions on only 46.4 percent of his 56 targets for 293 yards (5.2 yards per attempt), while also earning an 86.5 PFF grade as a run defender. He established himself as one of the best all-around cornerbacks in college football, and he might drop “one of” in 2025.
