While 2023 football recruiting is heating up as official visit season is upon us, the 2024 cycle is just getting started. On Monday, the latest On300 — which ranks the top-300 recruits in every class — was updated.

Here is a look at where Notre Dame stands with many of the rising juniors as the Marcus Freeman era gets underway.

Sole 2024 commit

At this time, Notre Dame has one commit in the 2024 class, four-star defensive lineman Brandon Davis-Swain out of West Bloomfield (Mich.) High. The defenseman committed to the Irish just after the April 23 spring game. He rounds out the top-100 of the On300, coming in at No. 100 and as the No. 10 defensive lineman in the nation. On3 ranks the Michigan native higher than the other recruiting services.

Notre Dame and the five-star prospects

In the latest rendition of the On300, there are three five-star recruits: quarterback Dylan Raiola, cornerback Desmond Ricks and defensive lineman Justin Scott, in that order. The Irish have extended offers to Raiola and Scott, although Raiola is committed to Ohio State.

Scott, the No. 3 prospect in the On300, hails from Chicago and is a top target for Notre Dame moving forward. He visited Notre Dame last fall and loved it. The 6-5, 310-pound lineman was thrilled with his Irish offer.

A look at 2024 quarterbacks

In addition to Raiola, Freeman and Co. have extended offers to four other quarterbacks in the 2024 class: Saline (Mich.) High’s CJ Carr, Carlsbad (Calif.) High’s Julian Sayin, Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day’s Jadyn Davis and Miami Christopher Columbus’ Adrian Posse. They are ranked Nos. 31, 47, 75 and 215, respectively, in the latest On300 update.

Carr and Sayin appear to be the top-two priorities for offensive coordinator Tommy Rees. Of note, Carr is the grandson of former Michigan head coach Lloyd Carr, but he has said not to assume he will become a Wolverine. Notre Dame is very much in the battle for the top-40 player and No. 4 quarterback in the class.

Top-100 recruits high on Notre Dame’s board

The Irish have their fingerprints all over top-100 recruits in the 2024 class, and several reciprocate the interest.

The top four-star recruit in the On300 with a Notre Dame offer is Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy cornerback Ellis Robinson IV. He is the No. 6 prospect in the class. Robinson IV is originally from New York and already has 23 Power Five offers, including Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State and Texas.

Elijah Rushing, an EDGE from Tucson, Ariz., moved up one spot to No. 7 in the latest On300. At 6-6 and 226 pounds, it’s easy to see Rushing has the physical tools to be an elite pass rusher. Oregon is the current leader for the West Coast native per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (26.4 percent), and Notre Dame trails just behind at 23.1 percent.

Glenville (Ohio) High corner Bryce West checks in as the No. 9 recruit in his class, and he received a Notre Dame offer last week. He comes from a high school in Cleveland which has produced many Ohio State greats, but his father is a big Notre Dame fan. There is certainly interest there.

Offensive tackle Guerby Lambert was already a top-15 recruit in his class, but he moved up a couple of spots to No. 12 in the latest On300. The 6-7, 285-pound four-star prospect attends West Roxbury (Mass.) Catholic Memorial and already demonstrates elite flexibility, per Chad Simmons of On3.

Largo (Fla.) High linebacker Adarius Hayes is now the No. 45 recruit in the 2024 class and holds an Irish offer. He visited for the April 23 Blue-Gold Game. Hayes is big on relationships, and it’s clear the Irish staff has already begun to cultivate them with the top-50 recruit.

Irvington (N.J.) High safety Vaboue Toure is quickly rising in the ranks, and he is now the No. 58 prospect in the country. Notre Dame is the current leader for the defensive back, sitting at 58.3 percent according to On3 RPM. He plays high school football alongside 2023 Irish safety commit Adon Shuler.

Peyton Woodyard out of Bellflower (Calif) St. John Bosco is the No. 65 prospect according to the On300. At this time, Notre Dame is a heavy favorite to land him according to On3 RPM (83.1 percent). Notably, the safety is also first cousins with former Irish and current Baltimore Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton.

New entrants into the On300

A couple of high-priority targets for Notre Dame are new members of the On300. Cincinnati Withrow cornerback Terhyon Nichols is now the No. 118 recruit in the class after being unranked until this point. He received his Irish offer on May 6 from corners coach Mike Mickens and has gotten a flurry of Power Five offers since then including Pittsburgh, Boston College, Minnesota and Kentucky.

Dakoda Fields, a corner out of Gardena (Calif.) Junipero Serra, went from unranked to No. 135 in the country. He is a four-star prospect according to 247Sports, while Rivals lists him as a three-star recruit. Fields already holds offers from a number of top-notch programs, including USC, Oregon and LSU.
