Notre Dame releases depth chart for Boston College game

Notre Dame has released its depth chart for its Saturday game vs. Boston College (2:30 p.m. ET, NBC). Here’s a position-by-position rundown of the starters and backups listed.

Quarterback

Starter: Drew Pyne (Jr.)

No. 2: Steve Angeli (Fr.)

Running back

Starter(s): Chris Tyree (Jr.), or Audric Estime (So.), or Logan Diggs (So.)

Tyree has started six games, Diggs five and Estime two.

Wide receiver

Starter: Jayden Thomas (So.)

No. 2: Matt Salerno (Gr.)

Wide receiver

Starter: Lorenzo Styles (So.)

No. 2: Deion Colzie (So.)

Wide receiver

Starter: Braden Lenzy (Gr.)

No. 2: Tobias Merriweather (Fr.)

Grad student Joe Wilkins Jr. was the No. 2 here, but entered the transfer portal Nov. 7 after two straight games without seeing action on offense. Merriweather played at least 18 snaps in three straight games before missing the Navy game due to a concussion.

Tight end

Starter: Michael Mayer (Jr.)

No. 2: Mitchell Evans (So.)

No. 3Holden Staes (Fr.)

No. 4: Davis Sherwood (So.)

Evans has played at least 40 snaps in four straight games.

Left tackle

Starter: Joe Alt (So.)

Ademilola made his third straight start here, moving Mills to a hybrid inside/outside role. Ehrensberger did not play on defense vs. Navy.

Three-technique tackle

Starter: Jayson Ademilola (Gr.)

No. 2: Chris Smith (Gr.)

Nose tackle

Starter: Howard Cross III (Sr.)

No. 2: Gabriel Rubio (So.)

Cross started here vs. Navy after ceding the job to Smith the prior two games.

Will linebacker

Starter: Marist Liufau (Sr.)

Kollie played a season-high 38 snaps.

Mike linebacker

Starter(s): JD Bertrand (Sr.)

No. 2: Junior Tuihalamaka (Fr.)

Bertrand missed the Navy game due to a groin injury, and Tuihalamaka made his first career start.

Rover

Starter: Jack Kiser (Sr.)

No. 2: Bertrand

Kiser started against Navy’s triple-option offense. His last start before that was oct. 22 vs. UNLV, a result of Notre Dame playing primarily nickel defense.

Left safety

Starter(s): Houston Griffith (Gr.) or DJ Brown (Gr.)

Brown started vs. Navy, his eighth start of the season. Griffith has started twice this year.

Right safety

Starter(s): Brandon Joseph (Sr.) or Ramon Henderson (Jr.)

Joseph started the first nine games before missing Navy with an ankle sprain. Junior Xavier Watts started in his place and played 44 snaps. Henderson played 23.

Cornerback

Starter(s): Cam Hart (Sr.) or TaRiq Bracy (Gr.)

No. 2: Jaden Mickey (Fr.)

Hart (boundary) and Bracy (field) started vs. Navy.

Cornerback

Starter(s): Benjamin Morrison (Fr.)

No. 2: Clarence Lewis (Jr.)

Morrison did not start vs. Navy but still played 34 snaps.
