Notre Dame commit Adon Shuler racks up new scholarship offers
Irvington (N.J.) High class of 2023 safety and Notre Dame commitment Adon Shuler announced Monday night that he landed eight new scholarship offers.
Michigan State, Vanderbilt, Duke, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Florida State, Akron and Kent State were the programs that Shuler tweeted out were his new offers.
Did they all occur on Monday? No. In fact, some of them occurred as far back as the fall of Shuler’s junior season, in which he helped lead Irvington to the school’s first state championship.
Shuler was focused on the 2021 season and not his recruiting process, especially considering he had already committed to Notre Dame. And Shuler showed respect to those programs by announcing the offers Monday night.
By all accounts, Shuler is locked in with his Notre Dame commitment that he gave August 15, 2021. He picked the Irish over Maryland and Penn State, the other schools that made up his top three.
Shuler posted 80 tackles (7.5 for loss), one sack, two forced fumbles, six interceptions (two returned for scores), three blocked field goals and two special teams scores during his junior campaign. Irvington (N.J.) High had a 12-2 record, capped off with a New Jersey North I Group IV Championship.
Before committing to Notre Dame, Shuler also held offers from the likes of Kentucky, Boston College, Cincinnati, Nebraska, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Florida, Georgia Tech, West Virginia and Syracuse.

The four-star Notre Dame commit ranks as the nation’s No. 126 overall prospect and No. 8 safety, plus the No. 2 prospect in New Jersey according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
On3’s own rankings have him listed slightly higher in the national rankings at No. 119 but have him with the same ranking at safety and from his home state of New Jersey.
Notre Dame commits taking to social media to recruit top targets
An easy way to see who Notre Dame’s most important targets are for the 2023 class is to check out who the Irish commits are tweeting at with graphics clearly made by the ND graphics team.
Last week, Shuler tweeted at Detroit Martin Luther King’s Dante Moore, the nation’s No. 17 prospect and No. 4 quarterback per the On3 Consensus, with a graphic that said “Join Us.”
Notre Dame commits have also tweeted similar graphics to Fort Washington (Md.) DeMatha Catholic defensive tackle Jason Moore, Birmingham (Ala.) Briarwood Christian quarterback Christopher Vizzina, and the following three wide receiver prospects: Austin (Texas) Westlake’s Jaden Greathouse, Del Valle (Texas) High’s Braylon James and Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy’s Carnell Tate.
