Notre Dame senior guard Olivia Miles wins ACC Player of the Week award
Olivia Miles made her triumphant return to the floor for Notre Dame last week. She’s seven days into her much anticipated return. She had a better seven days than anyone else in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Miles is the first ACC Player of the Week award winner of the 2024-25 season.
In her first game back, Miles had 20 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists to record her fourth career triple-double. No. 6 Notre Dame beat Mercyhurst, 105-61. On Sunday at Purdue, Miles had 17 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists. She drained a half-court buzzer beater at the end of the third quarter in a 102-58 victory for the Fighting Irish.
Miles currently ranks sixth in the ACC with 18.5 points per game. She fifth in assists per game at 6.0 and 20th in rebounds per game with 7.5. She off to an efficient shooting start, too. Her field goal percentage of .556 ranks 14th in the conference.
Nobody on Notre Dame’s roster has made more three-pointers through two games than Miles. She’s connected on three of her first six attempts from beyond the arc. She is also a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line and ranks third on the team with 4 steals.

All things considered, it’s been a heck of a start for Miles playing for the first time since Feb. 2023. Like backcourt mate Hannah Hidalgo, who was most certainly a candidate for ACC Player of the Week in her own right, Miles typically is at her best against the best. The Notre Dame schedule is loaded with three games against top-five teams between now and mid-December, so this is only the beginning for Miles.
As for Hidalgo, the 2023-24 All-American as a freshman is scoring 23.5 point and averaging 8.0 rebounds, 6.0 steals and 2.0 assists through two games. Even with a player of Miles caliber being introduced into the mix, Hidalgo is still filling up the stat sheet at the rate at which she did so in her phenomenal debut season in women’s college basketball. Hidalgo was named ACC Player of the Week three times and ACC Rookie of the Week 12 times last season.
Notre Dame returns to the floor against James Madison at Purcell Pavilion in South Bend on Wednesday. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. ET. After that, there’s only a road game at Lafayette on Nov. 17 separating the Irish from a Nov. 23 date at No. 3 USC in Los Angeles. The Trojans are also off to a 2-0 start.
