Notre Dame signee Leah Macy makes 2025 McDonald's All-American Game roster

Like clockwork, Notre Dame women’s basketball has another signee set to participate in the McDonald’s All-American Game. This year, it’s Bethlehem (Ky.) High School forward Leah Macy.
Macy is the only signee in Notre Dame’s class of 2025. She committed to the Fighting Irish in May and signed with head coach Niele Ivey’s program during the early signing period this past November. Macy is the No. 19 player in her class according to ESPN.
“She’s been on campus multiple times, so she’s really family,” Ivey said of Macy in a postgame press conference shortly after she signed. “But she brings an IQ, her versatility, and a motor, and she’ll fulfill that forward position. But she’s a glue-type player, so we’re really excited to actually officially welcome her to the family today.”
In Macy’s most recent high school outing, she erupted for 44 points to send Bethlehem to the All-A Final. She also grabbed 16 rebounds. In the first round of the All-A Classic, Macy had 29 points and 19 rebounds. She followed that up with 24 points and 13 rebounds in the quarterfinals.
Macy was spotted on crutches with a wrap around her knee at the Class A Final on Sunday, though. A source told Blue & Gold she is waiting for test results to come back.

Per MaxPreps, Macy averaged 26.7 points and 12.6 rebounds per game in 28.2 minutes of action in the first 10 games of her senior season. The 6-2 forward has been compared to departing graduate senior Maddy Westbeld, a current fifth-year player at Notre Dame.
Macy told Blue & Gold last summer she sees herself as Westbeld’s successor at the four spot.
“I’m very similar to Maddy,” Macy said. “Being able to see somebody in the program now playing that way and how Coach Ivey uses her, I really, really enjoyed seeing that.”
She added, “We’re so versatile. We could play inside and out. We’re not one-dimensional. That separates us from other people. Coach Ivey uses her in all aspects of her offense which I really enjoy seeing when I see her play. I can’t wait for Coach Ivey to use me that way.”
Westbeld was a McDonald’s All-American in 2020. She’s one of seven former McDonald’s All-Americans currently on the Notre Dame roster, the others being Kylee Watson (2020), Sonia Citron (2021), KK Branford (2022), Hannah Hidalgo (2023), Emma Risch (2023) and Kate Koval (2024). Olivia Miles and Cassandre Prosper likely would have been McDonald’s All-Americans if they did not enroll at Notre Dame early.
