After months of speculation, Notre Dame has revealed the 12th game on its schedule. The Irish will face Army in a Shamrock Series game Nov. 23 at Yankee Stadium in New York, the schools announced Wednesday.

The game will be broadcast on NBC and streamed on Peacock.

Notre Dame’s matchup with Army will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Four Horsemen backfield that included Jim Crowley, Elmer Layden, Don Miller and Harry Stuhldreher, according to a team press release. On Oct. 18, 1924, Grantland Rice gave the quartet that nickname in the New York Herald Tribune.

This will be the third Shamrock Series game to be played at Yankee Stadium, following Notre Dame wins over Army in 2010 and Syracuse in 2018. Previous Shamrock Series host cities have included Landover, Md., Chicago, Arlington, Texas, Indianapolis and Las Vegas.

The Irish had a vacancy on their schedule since Aug. 7, when the Miami Herald reported that the Notre Dame-Miami series, originally planned for 2024 and 2025, was rescheduled for 2025 and 2026. The Hurricanes, as the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson explained, accidentally scheduled five non-conference games for the upcoming season. They can only play four.

Army finished 6-6 in 2023, but the Black Knights finished strong in their 10th season under head coach Jeff Monken. They won their final four games over then-No. 17 Air Force, Holy Cross, Coastal Carolina and, of course, Navy in the annual Army-Navy game.
