Live pregame observations, updates: Notre Dame at USC

Notre Dame and USC play Saturday (7:30 p.m. ET, ABC) in their first matchup as ranked opponents since 2017. The No. 15 Irish (8-3) take a five-game winning streak into the regular-season finale, while the No. 6 Trojans (10-1, 8-1 Pac-12) have won four in a row.

2:45 p.m. PT: Notre Dame defensive players and coaches gather at midfield for their usual pregame prayer and huddle after. Starting cornerback Cam Hart, who Marcus Freeman deemed questionable due to a shoulder injury suffered last week vs. Boston College, walked out of the tunnel wearing a sling.

2:50 p.m. PT: Notre Dame’s specialists take the field for initial warmups. Freshman wide receiver Tobias Merriweather also walks onto the field not dressed for initial warmups, but starts playing catch. He has missed the last two weeks due to a concussion.

3:00 p.m.: Notre Dame releases its gameday injury report. Hart and Merriweather are officially out. No other players are on it.

3:10 p.m.: Most Notre Dame players have taken the field for initial warmups. Kicker Blake Grupe begins field goal practice with holder Jon Sot and long snapper Michael Vinson.

3:30 p.m.: All Notre Dame players have stopped initial warmups and are back in the locker room to change into uniform.

3:40 p.m.: Specialists re-emerge in uniform.

3:55 p.m.: Quarterback Drew Pyne and receivers begin throwing routes on air.

3:58 p.m.: All Notre Dame players have come out onto the field in uniform and gather on one side for full-team stretching.

4:13 p.m.: The Irish go through its 11-on-11 warmups. Four minutes later, they leave the field for the final time.

4:41 p.m.: Notre Dame takes the field (minus captains Michael Mayer, Isaiah Foskey and JD Bertrand) right as the coin toss occurs. The Irish win and defer to the second half.
