Notes

• If Cross and Mills leave after this season (the former seems more likely than the latter, but both could get drafted), the Irish might be looking for a defensive tackle in the transfer portal. The trust in Onye and Hinish is low, despite publicly praising them and both looking good on tape. Keanaaina is trusted to hold the line against the run, that’s it. Junior Gabriel Rubio, out Saturday for undisclosed reasons, is in line to start but beyond him, the pipeline at defensive tackle feels thin.

• Botelho played the most snaps at Vyper, despite missing the first half due to a targeting suspension. He did not record a pressure.

• With graduate nickel cornerback Thomas Harper out, the Irish played more base than they had before. They also played Hart in the slot a bit with Mickey on the outside. Kiser played more snaps than he played in the past two weeks combined.

• We finally saw Sneed used as a situational pass rusher this week, for 9 snaps.
