Notes

• Notable DNP-Coach’s Decisions: Junior defensive tackle Jason Onye, sophomore defensive tackle Donovan Hinish, sophomore Vyper Junior Tuihalamaka, sophomore cornerback Jaden Mickey, freshman cornerback Christian Gray.

• Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman on Onye earlier this week: “We said after film, ‘This is the best I’ve seen Jason Onye play in an actual football game.’ He’s earning more reps, and we’ll play him more because he’s doing some really good things on the football field.”

• If it wasn’t clear already, Notre Dame is no longer running a platoon at nickel cornerback or strong-side defensive end. Graduate transfers Thomas Harper and Javontae Jean-Baptiste, respectively, are the starters.

• Additionally, senior safety Ramon Henderson mostly (only?) played in three-safety packages. Graduate linebacker Jack Kiser mostly (only?) played in three-linebacker packages. Rotations really tightened on defense this week.

• The Irish blitzed a lot less than usual this week. Graduate linebacker Marist Liufau‘s pass rush snaps were mostly rushing off the edge.
