Leading 56-3 late against Tennessee State, Notre Dame truly emptied its bench. In what will surely be a season high, 36 players saw the field for the Irish.

Here are the snap counts and participation charts for Notre Dame vs. Tennessee State, as well as the Irish this season so far. All data is via Pro Football Focus.

For some clarification: A pass snap, as PFF defines it, is running a route or dropping back to pass. A run snap equates to carrying the ball. Anyone who does not do those three things is either run blocking or pass blocking, depending on the play.

Notes

• Good for Marcus Freeman for putting the walk-ons in. That’s always cool to see in a blowout, and the Notre Dame student section agreed. There was a loud cheer when graduate student Sam Assaf, who also plays lacrosse, got the ball on his lone snap.

• I would think Notre Dame gave Chris Tyree and Matt Salerno a bit of a veteran rest day, deferring their reps to less experienced players. They’ll play more snaps in a closer game than they did Saturday.

• Mitchell Evans’ snap count is impressive. It shows that A. Notre Dame’s coaches trust him and B. There is really no room in the Irish offense for 10 or 00 personnel.
