Newsstand: Notre Dame women's basketball downs Miami, stays undefeated at home
Each time Notre Dame women’s basketball has lost a game, they bounce back immediately. The Irish were 4-0 coming off of a loss entering Thursday night’s game against Miami, and they notched a fifth win in that category in a 69-53 victory. They are 12-0 at Purcell Pavillion this season.
Sophomore Maddy Westbeld had a standout night after what she called a “slump” with 21 points and eight rebounds, which led the Irish scoring efforts. Blue & Gold’s Tyler Horka has more on Westbeld and the Irish win here.

Bryant Young was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Thursday night. The defensive tackle played at Notre Dame from 1990 to 1993 and was drafted with the No. 7 overall pick in the 1994 NFL Draft. He played for the San Francisco 49ers from 1994 until his retirement in 2007. Additionally, Bryant served as a Notre Dame graduate assistant in 2009.
This was worthy of inclusion. This is awesome.
Quote of the day:
“Notre Dame sophomore forward Maddy Westbeld hasn’t been the same player she was last year as the ACC Freshman of the Year for some two months now. But Thursday was her birthday. She could do what she wanted to.
And did she ever.”
