Notre Dame WBB guard Olivia Miles earns ACC Tournament recognition
Another day, another award for Notre Dame freshman and women’s basketball guard Olivia Miles.
On Sunday, the New Jersey native was recognized for her work in last week’s ACC Tournament, earning All-ACC Tournament second-team honors. Notre Dame was eliminated from the tournament on Saturday afternoon after the No. 2-seeded Irish were upset by No. 7-seeded Miami, 57-54.
In two games in Greensboro, Miles played 69 of 80 minutes and had 24 points and eight rebounds. She shot 44 percent from three-point range. Her most impressive stat, however, was in the assists category. Miles had 13 assists against Georgia Tech on Friday night and added another five against Miami for a total of 18.
Miles is currently third in the nation in assists per game, with 7.2. For reference, Iowa superstar Caitlin Clark leads the country with 8.1. So far this year, the Notre Dame freshman has posted double-digit assists in six games.
What to expect for the NCAA Tournament
No. 1 seed NC State ultimately won this year’s ACC Tournament, downing Miami 47-60 on Sunday afternoon. Now, women’s basketball teams across the country turn their attention toward the Big Dance. The NCAA Women’s Tournament bracket will be released Sunday, March 13 at 8 p.m. ET.
According to the latest version of ESPN’s Charlie Creme‘s Women’s Bracketology, Notre Dame will be a No. 5 seed in the West Region, which will ultimately be played in Spokane. Of course, the first two rounds will take place on the home courts of the top-four seeds in each region, which is why it was important for the Irish to chase one of those No. 4 spots. The No. 12 seed Creme currently has facing is the Irish is the winner of a Northwestern and Missouri matchup.

Just don’t tell Notre Dame head coach Niele Ivey that five seed is signed, sealed and delivered.
“That’s definitely not in our control,” Ivey said. “I talk to the group about how far we’ve come this season. Our growth and maturation has been incredible, and I feel like we put ourselves in an incredible position to host. We have an incredible fan base, so I’m hoping we get that opportunity.”
Creme currently has eight ACC teams in the field, which is the second most behind nine squads from the SEC. The No. 1 seed in Notre Dame’s region is a very familiar team: Stanford. It is also the former school of Irish forward Maya Dodson.
