The Notre Dame women’s basketball team is in the midst of quite the comeback season. Not only are they ranked No. 14 in the nation and in place to be able to sit out the first two rounds of the ACC tournament next week, they are looking at potentially hosting two NCAA Tournament games if they can grab a No. 4 seed for the competition.

Here is a wholistic look at the ACC, complete with remaining matchups and other notes as the postseason approaches.

Teams in place to receive a double-bye

1. NC State (25-3, 16-1 ACC)

Remaining games: at Virginia Tech

The Wolfpack’s lone ACC loss is thanks to the Irish, but the nation’s No. 3 team shouldn’t overlook their final contest in Blacksburg. The Hokies’ only conference losses have come at the hands of teams in the top-five in the ACC, and Virginia Tech only lost by six points when these teams met in Raleigh on Jan. 23.

2. Louisville (23-3, 14-2)

Remaining games: at Pittsburgh, at Notre Dame

Louisville has played its final home game of the season, as the No. 4 team in the country finishes up with two road games. Both Louisville and NC State are currently predicted No. 1 seeds in the NCAA Tournament, per ESPN’s Charlie Creme’s Women’s Bracketology.

3. Notre Dame (20-6, 12-4)

Remaining games: Clemson, Louisville

The Irish will wrap up their regular season trying to get revenge after the Cardinals embarrassed them on their home court on Feb. 13. But first, they host a Clemson team for a trap game that shouldn’t be dismissed.

4. Virginia Tech (20-7, 12-4)

Remaining games: Miami, NC State

The Hokies lead the ACC in three-point field goals made, averaging 8.7 per game, making them a dangerous opponent. Virginia Tech hasn’t faced Miami yet, but as I previously mentioned, they kept it very close with the Wolfpack earlier this year. Can they pull the upset?

5. North Carolina (21-5, 11-5)

Remaining games: at Virginia, Duke

Traveling to Virginia shouldn’t be a tall task, but a lurking rivalry game with Duke is always a challenge, even if the Blue Devils are down. Thankfully for the Tar Heels, they get Duke at in Chapel Hill where they are 12-1 this year.

6. Georgia Tech (19-8, 10-6)

Remaining games: at Florida State, at Wake Forest

As of Thursday morning, the Yellow Jackets have the best scoring defense in the conference (51 points per game). Florida State and Wake Forest are No. 9 and No. 10, respectively, in scoring offense. If the pattern holds, the Yellow Jackets can certainly get a 20th win.

7. Miami (16-10, 9-7)

Remaining games: at Virginia Tech, Clemson

The rest of the schedule won’t be easy for the Hurricanes. Virginia Tech has a lot of talent, and Clemson kept the first meeting between the two teams close; Miami ended up winning 69-60. If the Hurricanes aren’t careful, they may find themselves without a first-round bye next week.

8. Boston College (17-10, 8-8)

Remaining games: at Duke, at Syracuse

Boston College has only finished in the top 10 in the ACC twice in the last 10 years, but they have the opportunity to do so if they close strong. Both remaining games are winnable, and they already beat Syracuse by 24 points earlier this season.

9. Florida State (14-12, 8-8)

Remaining games: Georgia Tech, at Pittsburgh

The Seminoles have had an inconsistent season. Every time they win a game or two in a row, they drop a game. They lost to UNC the last time they took the floor. Can they finish the regular season with a couple of victories?

10. Duke (16-10, 7-9)

Remaining games: Boston College, at North Carolina

Duke opted out of last season after just four games, and the Blue Devils have certainly struggled since a return this year. It is head coach Kara Lawson‘s first full season, but it has definitely been a disappointment.

11. Syracuse (11-15, 4-12)

Remaining games: at Wake Forest, Boston College

Syracuse’s last two games have been losses by 49 and 42 points. It probably can’t get much worse, but the Orange would love for it to get better.

12. Wake Forest (13-14, 3-13)

Remaining games: Syracuse, Georgia Tech

The Demon Deacons started the season 10-1 but have been dismal since the start of conference play. Georgia Tech won the last matchup between the teams, a 62-45 victory in Atlanta on Dec. 19.

13. Clemson (9-18, 3-13)

Remaining games: at Notre Dame, at Miami

Turnovers have been a huge issue for Clemson this year, as they are averaging nearly 17 per game. If they can’t hold onto the ball in their final two games, it will be a long week on the road for the Tigers. At least they get a late February trip to South Florida.

14. Pittsburgh (11-16, 2-14)

Remaining games: Louisville, Florida State

Pittsburgh is on the longest losing streak in the conference, having fallen in seven consecutive games. When they played Louisville on Jan. 6, they lost 81-39. They’ll try to make it a better game when they play the Cardinals again on Thursday, but it won’t be easy.

15. Virginia (5-20, 2-15)

Remaining games: North Carolina

Virginia has just two ACC wins, both of which have come in the last week. Before topping Duke and Pittsburgh on Feb. 17 and Feb. 20, respectively, they were 0-15 in conference play. It’s been a year to forget for the Cavaliers.
