Newsstand: Notre Dame women’s basketball has the most 2022 WNBA All-Stars
No college program is sending more former players to the WNBA All-Star Game than Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish have a quartet on their way to Wintrust Arena in Chicago.
Arike Ogunbowale of the Dallas Wings, Jackie Young of the Las Vegas Aces, Skylar Diggins-Smith of the Phoenix Mercury and Jewell Loyd all earned All-Star status. Young was voted a starter. It’s her first All-Star selection. She was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 draft and is averaging a career-best 17.8 points per game to go along with 4.2 rebounds and 3.9 assists.

Ogunbowale is averaging 19.3 points, 3.7 assists and 2.4 rebounds per game in her second All-Star season. She was the All-Star Game MVP last year. Diggins-Smith is making her sixth All-Star appearance. She’s averaging 18.8 points, 5.1 assists and 3.7 assists as a 31-year-old. Loyd is a four-time All-Star and is averaging 16.6 points, 3.6 assists and 2.8 rebounds per game.
The game tips off at 1 p.m. ET (ABC) on Sunday, July 10.
