Newsstand: Notre Dame WBB center Lauren Ebo battling lower-body injury
Notre Dame narrowly lost to a ranked team on the road Sunday, falling 69-65 to No. 20 NC State. Had the Fighting Irish been at full strength, they might’ve been able to turn a four-point defeat into a victory.
Graduate student center Lauren Ebo, averaging 9.9 points and 7.0 rebounds per game, did not suit up against the Wolfpack. Head coach Niele Ivey said Ebo did not play because of a lingering lower-body injury. Ebo was on the Irish bench in a walking boot during the game. She averaged 13.5 points and 8 rebounds in the Irish’s wins over Virginia and Florida State last week.

It’s unclear how long Ebo will be out. For however long she is, the Irish will be down to eight scholarship players available. Graduate student guard Dara Mabrey is out for the season with a torn ACL. Mabrey was averaging 9.3 points per game, so the Irish were missing nearly 20 points on average without Ebo and Mabrey against the Wolfpack.
The No. 7 Irish (17-3, 8-2 ACC) are at Boston College (14-10, 4-7) on Thursday at 7 p.m. ET.
