Notre Dame commit Leah Macy makes USA Women’s U18 National Team
Five-star class of 2025 Notre Dame women’s basketball commit Leah Macy gets to play for Fighting Irish head coach Niele Ivey one whole year before she arrives on campus in South Bend. Macy made the USA Women’s U18 National Team, which Ivey will oversee as one of two assistant coaches this summer.
Macy, a 6-3 forward who committed to Notre Dame earlier this month, is one of 12 players who earned a roster spot after three days of trials in Colorado Springs. There were 26 participants in the trials. Macy will head back to Colorado for training camp starting on June 8.
Here’s a full look at the roster that will be coached by Ivey, head coach Teri Moren (Indiana) and assistant coach Jose Fernandez (South Florida) at the 2024 FIBA U18 Women’s AmeriCup from June 17 to 23 in Bucaramanga, Colombia. High school graduating class years and where each player is committed to play college ball are in parenthesis.

When Maddy Westbeld exhausts her eligibility at the end of the 2024-25 season, Macy is expected to step in and start right away at forward for Notre Dame. Macy’s player comparison is Westbeld. She told Blue & Gold she’s excited to play a similar role to that of Westbeld in Notre Dame’s system.
She’s also excited to play for Ivey, something she’ll get a little taste of this summer.
“She just really knows what’s best for the player,” Macy said of Ivey. “For me, she emphasized how I fit in her playing style. Which, I fit perfectly. I’m very similar to Maddy. Being able to see somebody in the program now playing that way and how Coach Ivey uses her, I really, really enjoyed seeing that. My family did too.”
