Matchup notables
• Boston College has lost nine-straight games by an average margin of defeat of 14.9 points. One result of interest, though; the Eagles only lost to Louisville by two points on Feb. 15. That games was played in Chestnut Hill. Now’s not the time for Notre Dame to take anybody lightly. Not even these reeling birds.
• Boston College is led by junior guard Andrea Daley’s 13.9 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. Sophomore forward Teya Sidberry is not far behind with 13.5 points per game and she leads the team with 6.7 rebounds per game. She’s the one to watch against a Notre Dame team that always seems susceptible to letting an opposing post player have a big game.

• Notre Dame is a different team when sophomore guard KK Bransford is consistently contributing coming off the bench. She had 12 points in the Irish’s 74-47 win over Clemson on Thursday. She was an energizer in Notre Dame’s 70-62 win over Duke this past Monday, too, with 8 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. She does a little bit of everything when she’s at her best, and that’s a lot for a team to contend with from someone who doesn’t start.
• Notre Dame freshman point guard Hannah Hidalgo hasn’t shot better than 50 percent from the field in a game since Feb. 1. Her last half dozen outings have not been particularly efficient. She finished with 10 points in two of the last three games. Uncharacteristic from the nation’s third-leading scorer at 23.9 points per game. She’s worth watching to see if she breaks through the freshman wall and as a good game leading into Notre Dame’s two massive matchups against No. 8 Virginia Tech and No. 20 Louisville in the final week of the regular season.
