Where Notre Dame women’s basketball ranks in Week 10 AP Top 25
For the second week in a row, Notre Dame lost ground in the Associated Press poll. The Fighting Irish (10-3, 1-2 ACC) dropped from No. 16 to No. 18 in the Week 10 rankings after losing another conference game.
There are six ACC teams appearing in this week’s poll. The Irish are fifth among them ahead of only No. 20 North Carolina, who just beat the Irish 61-57 in South Bend on Sunday.
Notre Dame is not scheduled to face a ranked team until Jan. 27 at No. 13 UConn (12-3). That matchup precedes a stretch of three-straight ranked games in league play against No. 15 Louisville (13-2) on Feb. 8, No. 21 Florida State (12-4) on Feb. 11 and No. 6 NC State (14-1) on Feb. 15. Notre Dame also has a home game against No. 11 Virginia Tech (12-2) on Feb. 29 before finishing the regular season hosting Louisville.
The objective: win while you can. Especially if Notre Dame remains as injured as it has been. The Irish used a six-player rotation in yesterday’s loss to the Tar Heels.

Scraping out victories the way the Irish did against Pittsburgh on the road last week is going to be paramount before a brutal final month of the regular season from a scheduling perspective. Notre Dame’s next four conference games are against teams with losing records in ACC play. Those are the games in which head coach Niele Ivey‘s team just has to find ways to emerge victorious.
