Here come the Irish. Notre Dame women’s basketball is knocking on the door of the Associated Press Poll’s top 10 for the first time since November.

Notre Dame (17-4, 7-3 ACC) is ranked No. 12 in the Week 14 AP Top 25, the team’s highest ranking in the poll since coming in at No. 13 in Week 8.

The Irish won a pair of ACC games against Georgia Tech and Pittsburgh by an average margin of 31 points in the last week. The going gets much tougher in the road ahead starting with an away game against No. 15 Louisville (19-3, 8-1) on Thursday.

The Cardinals are on the road at No. 3 NC State (19-2, 7-2) at 7 p.m. ET tonight. Notre Dame takes on the Wolfpack at Purcell Pavilion in South Bend on Feb. 15. Irish fans can watch two of Notre Dame’s next three opponents on ESPN2 this evening.

A second consecutive regular season ACC championship is still within reach for the Irish, even with two losses to Syracuse. The mentality has to be “win out” to get there, though. The Irish won the league with three ACC losses last year, which is how many they already have now. That’s the most losses any ACC regular season champion has had since the Irish joined the league in 2013-14.

It’s not going to be easy. Four of Notre Dame’s eight remaining regular season games are against ranked opponents. We’ll find out just how capable freshman Hannah Hidalgo and her supporting cast is of playing with the elite teams in the ACC over the next month.
