Head coach Niele Ivey‘s Fighting Irish are coming off a season in which they went 27-6 overall, 15-3 in conference play, won the ACC Conference Tournament and advanced to the Sweet 16 for the second consecutive season. If not for injuries to both starting guards, including electrifying point guard Olivia Miles, the Irish might have advanced even further.

Miles’ timeline for return is up in the air as the season rapidly approaches. If she cannot play from the start of the season, Notre Dame is entrusting McDonald’s All-American freshman Hannah Hidalgo to run the point for the Irish. She’s electrifying in her own right, perhaps even more of a harassing defensive player than Miles.
