Notre Dame football injury report: Official update on WR Beaux Collins vs. Ohio State in championship
On Tuesday, the Notre Dame Football Communications Team posted its official injury report for Monday’s national championship game vs. Ohio State in Atlanta. As Fighting Irish coach Marcus Freeman stated Sunday, left tackle Anthonie Knapp is out with an ankle injury. Graduate student wide receiver Beuax Collins is listed as questionable with a left calf injury.
No other players were listed on the injury report, meaning sophomore running back Jeremiyah Love (knee) and right guard Rocco Spindler (ankle) will be available to play. That is reflected on the team’s official depth chart.
Collins’ availability is dependent on how he responds in practice this week.
“He has a calf strain,” he said. “He’ll work back into practice here in the next couple of days. I hope as long as he progresses, he’ll be good to go for the game. But we have to make sure that he progresses as we go through this week.”
The 6-foot-3, 206-pound Collins only played seven snaps against Penn State last Thursday in the College Football Playoff semifinal at the Orange Bowl. After the opening series, Blue & Gold saw that Collins spent about five minutes in the sideline injury tent. He had a wrap on one of his lower legs when he emerged. Currently, Freeman said Collins is “healing.”
Though no official update has been provided, Irish senior Jason Onye remains out with a personal matter and has not been listed on the team’s depth chart. He has not played since Sept. 21 against Miami (Ohio).
