On3 Outliers: Three 2023 Notre Dame commits On3 ranks higher than industry
Now that the summer camp circuit is winding down and rising seniors are beginning to prepare for their final seasons of high school football, recruiting rankings are changing and starting to more closely resemble how they may appear on Early Signing Day come December.
Several such prospects the recruiting gurus are watching are committed to Notre Dame, as head coach Marcus Freeman currently has the No. 1 2023 class. There are always going to be differences in how the experts view the prospects. Here is a look at three 2023 recruits who earned intriguing rankings from On3.

OT Charles Jagusah
On3 has been high on the offensive tackle out of Rock Island (Ill.) Alleman for quite some time, and the praise for Jagusah continues. In the latest rankings update, the 6-6, 300-pound offensive tackle checks in as a five-star recruit ranked No. 1 at his position and No. 6 in the country overall, a bump up from No. 7. The On3 scouting report characterizes him as a “big-framed offensive tackle who plays with natural coordination, balance and movement skills.”
Of the four recruiting sites, On3 gives him the best ranking by a pretty wide margin; it is also the only site to have him ranked as a five-star prospect. 247Sports is the next highest (No. 25), and ESPN’s ranking is No. 71. Rivals is the only site to have Jagusah outside of the top 100 (No. 122).
S Peyton Bowen
Bowen was one of six 2023 recruits to earn five-star status from On3 on Monday, as the experts bumped him from No. 37 nationally to No. 18. He is also now the No. 2 safety in the class and the No. 2 prospect out of Texas. Bowen attends Denton (Texas) Guyer.

As with Jagusah, On3 is the only of the four recruiting websites to have Bowen listed as a five-star recruit, although everyone has him ranked inside of their top 100. ESPN leads the other three sites giving him the No. 49 spot, while 247Sports and Rivals have the 6-0, 185-pound defensive back at No. 84 and No. 93, respectively.
OT Sullivan Absher
Absher saw a positive movement in his On3 ranking on Monday, jumping from just inside of the top 100 (No. 98) to well inside of the mark (No. 77). The other three recruiting sites have Absher listed as a four-star prospect ranging from No. 184 (247Sports) to unranked (ESPN). As a result of the differences in rankings across the four sites, his On3 Consensus ranking is No. 13 at his position and No. 172 overall in the 2023 class.
The 6-6, 295-pounder out of Belmont (N.C.) South Point does not pass block often due to his high school’s option offense, but the On3 team has been very impressed with his run-blocking abilities. Be on the lookout for a pancake block or two when Absher ultimately arrives in South Bend.
