Four-star running back Jeremiyah Love signs with Notre Dame
Notre Dame’s running back class suffered some attrition in the two weeks before Signing Day. Its highest-ranked member, though, did not go anywhere.
Jeremiyah Love, a four-star prospect from St. Louis Christian Brothers High School, signed his letter of intent Wednesday morning. Notre Dame announced his addition shortly after. He is the No. 67 player and the No. 5 running back in the 2023 On3 Consensus. The Irish have not landed a running back ranked that high since the late Greg Bryant in 2013.
The 5-foot-11, 190-pound Love committed to Notre Dame Oct. 15, hours before the Irish lost to Stanford at home. Love was on campus that day, his fourth trip to South Bend since March. He chose Notre Dame over Texas A&M. His official visit schedule included those two, Alabama and Michigan.
“Notre Dame just has more to offer academic-wise,” Love said when he committed. “My family loves both Texas A&M and Notre Dame, but I think this is the best fit for us. Notre Dame can offer me more in the long run.”

Notre Dame’s work to secure Love didn’t stop after his commitment. They had to fend off late pursuits from Texas A&M and Michigan to secure his signature. And as signing day approached, hanging on to him became even more crucial.

Love was one of three running backs in the class as recently as 13 days ago. He’s the lone back expected to sign with the Irish, though. Four-star Derby (Kan.) athlete Dylan Edwards backed off his Notre Dame commitment Dec. 8 and chose Colorado two days later. He had been committed to the Irish since early August. Four-star Lake Stevens (Wash.) running back Jayden Limar, an Irish commit since late May, is expected to sign with Oregon.
In terms of numbers, though, Notre Dame can live with a one-back class. Love will join a crowded running back unit when he enrolls in June.
None of the five scholarship running backs on the 2022 roster are out of eligibility. Chris Tyree will be a senior in 2023. Audric Estimé and Logan Diggs are rising juniors. Gi’Bran Payne and Jadarian Price are sophomores-to-be. Tyree, Estimé and Diggs each had at least 95 carries in the regular season. Payne has played three games and had two carries. Price has missed the entire season with an Achilles injury.
