Notre Dame coach Marcus Freeman has won over yet another top recruit. On Friday, class of 2025 four-star safety JaDon Blair, a product of Winston-Salem (N.C.) Mount Tabor, announced his verbal commitment to the Fighting Irish.

According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services, the 6-foot-4½, 195-pound Blair is the No. 157 overall player and No. 15 safety in the nation. He also checks in as the No. 5 prospect in North Carolina.

Blair chose Notre Dame over Michigan, Penn State, Florida State, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and Louisville. Since April, he has used his one allotted official visit to each of those schools.

Blair also unofficially visited Wake Forest, Maryland, Georgia Tech and Duke during his recruitment. Those schools, as well as LSU, Tennessee, Miami, West Virginia, Mississippi State, NC State and Indiana, offered him a scholarship.

Notre Dame’s 2025 class is up to 22 verbal commits, with Blair a part of the fold. He’s the eighth-ranked player, behind offensive tackle Will Black (No. 43 overall), quarterback Deuce Knight (53), safety Ivan Taylor (59), cornerback Mark Zackery (92), EDGE Christopher Burgess (100), safety Dallas Golden (107) and tight end James Flanigan (154).

Former Notre Dame safeties coach Chris O’Leary offered Blair on April 27. Blair eventually unofficially visited campus for the program’s end-of-summer recruiting event on July 30 and the Ohio State game on Sept 23.

Although O’Leary departed for the Chargers in February, Notre Dame still got Blair up to campus for another unofficial in early April and again for his official visit from June 11-13.

Blair finalized his Notre Dame commitment at the end of June and announced it publicly on his birthday, Friday.
