On3’s Steve Wiltfong predicts Notre Dame football to land commitment from key recruiting target
On3 vice president of recruiting and transfer portal has publicized a prediction in Notre Dame football’s favor. On Tuesday, Steve Wiltfong filed a pick into the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) for the Fighting Irish to land a commitment from four-star safety JaDon Blair.
Wiltfong’s RPM comes after reporting on Blair’s recruitment at the On3 Elite Series event in Nashville on Tuesday.
“Notre Dame is ‘setting the pace’ for four-star safety JaDon Blair, he says,” Wiltfong and director of recruiting Chad Simmons reported. “Michigan and Penn State are right behind them on his list. He definitely plans to commit July 5, and will likely end up at one of the Midwest programs.”
According to the On3 Industry Ranking — a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services — Winston-Salem (N.C.) Mount Tabor’s Blair is the No. 153 overall player, No. 15 safety nationally and No. 5 prospect in North Carolina in 2025.
In On3’s rankings, he’s the No. 85 player, No. 8 safety in America and No. 4 recruit in North Carolina.
The 6-foot-4, 180-pound Blair has official visits scheduled to South Carolina (May 31-June 2), Notre Dame (June 11-13), Michigan (June 14-16) and Florida State (June 21-23). He has already made OVs to Louisville and Virginia Tech. Blair plans to reveal his commitment on July 5.
“My schedule definitely looks like I’m where I’m at right now,” Blair told Simmons. “I’m just taking these OVs to just see where I’m at with these places and to see what place I fit in best at.
“I’m seeing where I get that home feeling. That’s really what these visits are for. I want to find that place that separates itself. That’s why I’m real confident and I’ll be able to make that decision July 5th.”

Why four-star safety recruit JaDon Blair could commit to Notre Dame football
According to Blair, his relationships with the Notre Dame coaching staff are a key reason the Irish have a great chance of landing his pledge next month. Coach Marcus Freeman and Co. have hosted him on three unofficial visits, the most recent occurring last month.
“What makes me keep going back is the relationship I have with those coaches,” he said. “And that’s one of those schools that is a great place, and I love it a lot. Building the relationship with those coaches and the players there, the like-minded people.
“That’s something I would love to be around. That’s why I keep going back because I want to be 100 percent sure just like the other schools.”
The Irish have commitments from the No. 5 and 36 safeties in 2025 in Ivan Taylor and Ethan Long. They also have three four-star cornerbacks: Dallas Golden, Cree Thomas and Mark Zackery.
Notre Dame’s 2025 recruiting class currently ranks fifth in the Industry Ranking Football Team Recruiting Rankings.
